Gen X Talk #16: Should We Allow Our Children to Start a YouTube Show!

Hi Gen X Warriors,

I hope that you enjoyed this week’s podcast, “The Takeover – The Youngest Campbells, Cayden and Cydney!” and if you haven’t heard it yet, click on the title to listen. My 6yo and 4yo decided that mommy was taking too long to have them on her podcast, so they took matters into their own hands. It is hilarious!

Well, our children have been asking us for a YouTube channel for the longest time now and I was very hesitant about starting one for them. I’m not sure why I’m hesitant because I know they are ready, at least Cayden is. He constantly practices for his show every day, and this is one of the reasons why we decided to have them on the podcast, to test their readiness.

My concern I believe stem from being concerned about their safety, would they be safe on the internet? But is it also fare to restrict them of their dream because I’m not completely on board but I’m also all over social media?

I found a great article titled: “Some Kids Are Making Millions as YouTube Stars, but Is the Fame Worth It?”  This article really helped put me at ease on how to move forward with the dreams of my children. So, you will be the first to hear about it, but stay tuned for the Cayden and Cydney Show coming soon to YouTube!
